***WARNING GROSS PIC***
Costa Rica was not quite what Jon was hoping for, but he still had a great time. It rained for 3 straight days while he was there! Which didn't make the best fishing/golfing weather! Unfortunatly a little friend must have bitten his arm! He noticed a little bite Thursday morning...and it just kept growing and growing! On Wednesday it looked horrible and I could tell it was causing him some serious pain (he was trying to be macho) we finally had to go to Instacare and have them lance and drain it. He also had to get an antibiotic shot....which the nurse said was like peanut butter. It must have been pretty horrible because Jon just about hit the floor! After Jon having to witness and ER visit with me for a bloody nose, and two babies...I was just not ok watching him in pain! I felt so bad! Now I know how he feels just standing there watching and not being able to really do anything! I would much rather be in pain than watch someone in pain! I know Chelsea and Lindsey are dying of shock right now! They don't handle pain so well! The next day it was WORST and we just decided to go to the ER where it was drained and lanced again and he had to get an IV of antibiotics. They decided that he would need more so they left his IV in and he has to go back for the next 4 days to get more meds! POOR GUY! He has both arms wrapped up now! Anyway we took a picture of it! I don't want anyone to die of shock so I put it at the bottom....let me just say that this is a huge improvement of what it was yesterday! I will keep you posted!

Yikes! That is gross! What is coming out of the wound a worm? ugh! I'm sorry Jon has been in so much pain. I hope he gets better soon!
It totally looks like a worm coming out of the bite- GROSS!!
No it is not a worm. It is the iodoform gause that they used to pack and keep the wound open. However that would have been pretty cool if something popped put of it. I do think something might be living in there. For now we will call it Paco.
Holy Crap!!!
AHH!! Gross! Even with the warning, I was still not prepared for that! Yuck! Poor Jon. I can't wait to show that pic to Ron. He'll say, "Gross...but COOL!" Did anyone ever figure out what type of bite it was?
Wahoo- love the picture Mandy- that is AWESOME!! (In a very 'I'm sorry Jon has to go through that' sort of way, of course) Thanks for posting the picture!!
Ugh. I'm a nurse and that still grosses me out. What makes me even more nervous is that you don't know what bit him! Let's hope the abx do the trick and that he'll get better soon! Thank goodness he was here to get treatment and not in Costa Rica. Who knows what they would have done! Good luck with the recovery Jon!
Sorry Jon!! That just stinks! I guess you don't have the greatest ting to ay about Costa Rica anymore eh?
I have just two words.........OH SICK!!!!!!! (I wish I could make them bigger!)
Seriously, I just watched a thing on TLC about strange things pulled from the human body and there was a lady that had the same thing in her head, and I swear she got it from Costa Rica too!!!! They ended up pulling out a big giant maggot out of her head!
I thought it was so NEAT!! i LOVE stuff like that - the bigger, and more swollen the better - you know us Waalkes - give us a good pimple to squeeze!! I do feel bad for him because I am sure it hurt, although the IV shunt propably hurt more. Be good to him.
That is DISGUSTING!!!!!!!!!!! I don't think I have any desire now to ever go to Costa Rica...has it gotten better yet?
Sorry Jon I kind of like the gory pictures too. (It's the nurse in me.)
You should never feed wild animals Jon, especially with your half a million dollar hands!! I hope it gets better soon, it does look sore.
That is sooooo ugly - there's a hole inhis arm - OUCH!! Greg looked at it and though it was a worm too. I hope he is doing much better. Take care!
Ok, that is seriously gross! It even wins over my weird thing on my leg last year, remember?
